Job summary

Ascension is seeking an EMS Dispatch professional at Via Christi Hospital, St. Francis in Wichita, KS. This PRN position covers 12-hour shifts in Ground Transport. You will respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, route appropriately, and dispatch units including air medical as needed.

The role emphasizes timely, accurate communication, documentation for legal and statistical purposes, and collaboration with referring entities to improve access and quality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma equivalency or 1 year of relevant experience required.
• Note: Licensure can substitute education/experience where applicable.
• Prior EMS/911 dispatch experience preferred.

• Route calls accurately and promptly; dispatch emergency units.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Receive and respond to emergency and non-emergency telephone and radio calls for medical assistance.
• Respond to calls in a time-sensitive manner. Ensure appropriate and accurate routing of calls.
• Dispatch emergency units and coordinate air medical flights as appropriate and per established algorithms.
• Maintain documentation of calls and physician/service referrals for legal, medical and statistical purposes.
• Follow up with referring entities for ease of access, marketing, evaluation, and quality improvement.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Additional Preferences

• Prior experience in EMS or 911 Emergency Dispatch is preferred
• Must be available to work any shift: 7:00am-7:30pm, 12:00pm-12:30am, and 7:00pm-7:30am
