Job summary

The City of Greer is seeking a Telecommunicator for the Police Department to answer 911 and other lines, determine the needed response, and relay information to officers and agencies.

You will monitor multiple radios and CAD systems, document calls, and maintain calm, accurate communication under pressure while upholding department policies and providing high-quality service to the community.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Must complete E911 training and NCIC/EMD/EFD/Priority Police Dispatch certification within the first year of employment.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts.

Responsibilities

• Answers 911 telephone lines, other emergency lines, and non-emergency lines to ascertain type of assistance and location.
• Dispatches or transfers calls to police, fire, or other agencies.
• Monitors multiple radios, CAD system, and other telecommunications equipment.
• Documents all incoming information and maintains required records and reports.
• Remains calm under pressure, communicates clearly, and multi-tasks in a fast-paced environment.
