Job summary

The City of Belton is seeking a Police Department dispatcher to handle emergency and non‑emergency calls and coordinate unit responses. You will enter data, assist with records, and support teletype communications, while cross‑training for other non-sworn duties.

Qualifications include a high school diploma and the ability to obtain Texas Telecommunicator Certification within 6 months. Strong communication and calm decision making are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Dispatch experience preferred but not required.
• Texas Telecommunicator Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Answer emergency and non-emergency telephone lines at the Police Station.
• Gather information from callers and assess required response.
• Dispatch ambulances and police units as needed.
• Enter and update information in TCIC/NCIC and related databases.
• Maintain records, logs and perform clerical duties as assigned.
• Cross-train for other non-sworn duties within the department.
