Job summary

City of Belton Police Department seeks a professional dispatcher to handle non-emergency and emergency calls, determine incident nature, and dispatch police, fire, and EMS per SOPs.

You will monitor multiple radio frequencies, enter reports in CAD, run checks, and assist officers while maintaining confidentiality and providing excellent public service.

This is a non-exempt, on-site position requiring related training and certifications within six months.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year dispatching experience or 3 years in a high-call customer service environment.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Basic Telecommunicator Training and EMD certification within 6 months.
  • Proficiency with CAD, MULES, NCIC and Next Gen 911 systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to non-emergency and emergency calls; dispatch police, fire, and EMS as needed.
  • Enter data into CAD and log incident notes; monitor radios and CCTV.
  • Provide information and assistance to units and the public as required.
  • Assist in training new dispatchers and officers in communications.
  • Perform clerical tasks and weather monitoring when needed.
