Job summary

The Belton Police Department is seeking a Dispatch position responsible for receiving emergency and non-emergency calls and dispatching appropriate units. The role includes data entry, recordkeeping, and cross-training in non-sworn duties.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in dispatch preferred but not required.
• Texas Telecommunicator Certification required or within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Answer emergency and non-emergency calls at the Police Station.
• Gather information from callers including nature, severity, location, and status of emergencies.
• Assess need for response and dispatch services accordingly.
• Provide pre-arrival medical instructions on medical emergency calls.
• Assist Officers by relaying information regarding calls for service.
• Dispatch ambulances, police, and fire units as required.
• Enter and update records in TCIC/NCIC and TLETS databases.
• Research inquiries from other agencies and departments.
• Cross-train to perform other non-sworn duties as assigned.
• Maintain logs and assist with training of new employees.
• Work weekends and holidays as required.
