Job summary

The City of Pearland, TX is seeking a full-time Telecommunication Operator to work in our dispatch center. Minimum education includes high school graduation or GED, plus one year of telecommunications or related experience.

Qualifications

• CPR Certification
• Notary Certification
• Basic - Telecommunications Operator Certification (required within one year of hire)
• Intermediate Telecommunications Operator Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages radio traffic on multiple channels; dispatches calls; provides in-progress updates for emergencies and tracks status of warrants and vehicles.
• Answers in-progress emergency 911 calls by maintaining calm, extracting safety information, and making time-sensitive decisions.
• Takes non-emergency calls providing information about warrants, city services and coordinates routing of calls for police and city operations.
• Enters and manages TCIC/NCIC records and verifies hits from outside agencies.
• Disseminates official police teletype communications and coordinates with other agencies for transports and city call outs.
• Acts as liaison with other agencies regarding jurisdiction, prisoner transports, and SWAT paging.
