Job summary

CONFIRE, JPA in California seeks a Call Taker to receive and evaluate emergency and non-emergency service requests. The role requires accurate data entry into the CAD system for dispatchers and may involve pre-arrival instructions and protocol-based urgency assessments.

Candidates must pass a background check, fingerprinting, and a medical examination. The position requires availability for rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime. Benefits are outlined in the agency’s plans.

Qualifications

• Typing speed of 30 WPM.
• Background: fingerprint check and medical examination required.
• Shifts: rotating shifts including days, nights, weekends, holidays, evenings, and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Receives emergency and non-emergency calls for service and enters information in the CAD system.
• Screens incoming calls to determine nature and urgency.
• Applies protocol questioning, provides pre-arrival instructions and adjusts urgency as needed.
• Transfers low acuity, or non-emergency calls to appropriate agencies.
• Provides vacation and temporary relief as required.
• Provides other duties as required.
