Job summary

Mount Carmel New Albany is seeking a part-time Emergency Department Technician to provide compassionate patient care during two 12-hour night shifts per week (7pm–7:30am) with rotating weekends and holidays. The role emphasizes responsiveness, patient transport, phlebotomy, EKGs, and collaboration with the ED team.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and certification in basic patient care skills, EKG, phlebotomy, and BLS.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Approved course including basic patient care skills, EKG, phlebotomy, and BLS certification is required.
• Previous patient care experience or health-related training is preferred.
• Effective communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Responds to patient needs promptly and professionally.
• Transport and escort patients as needed.
• Perform visual acuity, eye irrigations, and equipment setups.
• Carry out phlebotomy and collect lab specimens as ordered.
• Support trauma, stroke, heart, and sepsis alerts and resuscitation protocols.
• Perform wound care and sterile technique when appropriate.
• Remove sutures and staples (excluding facial region).
• Provide Foley care and collect specimens.
• Perform EKGs and document patient data.
• Report observations and condition changes to RN/physician promptly.
