Job summary

UChicago Medicine is seeking a Supervisor, Patient Access- ED Department to oversee daily operations inside the greater Chicagoland area. This onsite role directs bedside/triage registration, payments, and verification workflows to ensure seamless ED entry and compliant care.

The position leads frontline staff, schedules 24/7 coverage, and trains team members on registration systems and trauma intake protocols, while partnering with ED clinicians and revenue cycle leadership to optimize patient

Qualifications

• CRCR via HFMA recommended upon hire or within 1 year of employment.
• CHAM via NAHAM or CHAA via NAHAM strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees bedside and triage registration, collections, verification, and trauma tracking workflows for efficient ED entry.
• Manages 24/7 master shift schedules and adjusts staffing for trauma surges.
• Onboards and mentors Patient Access staff; conducts refresher training on systems and compliance.
• Evaluates staff performance, conducts quality audits, and implements corrective actions.
• Monitors patient, account and claim queues to resolve errors and meet daily queue goals.
• Acts as liaison between ED clinical teams, trauma staff, financial counseling, and revenue cycle leadership.
• Ensures HIPAA, EMTALA compliance and handles special projects as assigned.
