Job summary

The supervisor acts as the administrative representative when management is off-site, overseeing staffing, patient care, crisis response, and interdepartmental coordination.

Responsibilities include directing nursing staff, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and providing real-time clinical leadership.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license.
• BSN preferred.
• ACLS and PALS/ENPC certificates within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum 1 year as staff nurse in acute care; ED setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assign nursing staff based on patient acuity, skill level, and staffing ratios to ensure safe coverage.
• Oversee patient flow including admissions, transfers, and discharges to maintain efficiency.
• Provide leadership and real-time clinical support to nursing staff.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, The Joint Commission, CMS, and state regulations.
• Facilitate communication between Med-Surg and physicians/ancillary departments.
• Respond to patient emergencies and implement quality improvement measures.
• Conduct safety rounds and enforce infection control and med administration protocols.
