Job summary

UNC Health is hiring a Nursing Assistant I to join the Emergency Room team in Lenoir, NC. You will support licensed clinicians with exams, transport patients and supplies, and help maintain patient rooms and records.

The role requires a valid Nursing Assistant I credential and BLS certification, with no prior experience required. The position is full-time, onsite in North Carolina, with a 36-hour work week and daytime scheduling.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Listed as a Nursing Assistant I by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Service.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, and procurement of equipment and supplies.
• Reviews patient documentation and reports significant changes to a nurse or physician.
• Performs clerical tasks and maintains patient care unit records, screens calls, transcribes orders, and conducts basic PI audits as needed.
• Provides clinical support including room setup, equipment maintenance, linen changes, and patient transport.
• Delivers direct personal care per the plan of care—bathing, dressing, feeding, ambulation, and vitals—within scope of practice.
• Reinforces patient teaching and distributes educational materials.
