Job summary

Griffin Health in Derby, CT seeks an Emergency Department Greeter for the 7p-7a shift (36 hours). The role welcomes patients, families and visitors, answers questions, provides information and directs people in the emergency department waiting area, helping to create a caring yet efficient atmosphere.

The Greeter may perform light clerical tasks during patient encounters, handle quick registration, and assist with escorting patients, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Qualifications

• At least one year of customer service experience.
• BLS is preferred.
• Must communicate courteously and effectively.

Responsibilities

• Cordially greets visitors and patients upon arrival and directs them accordingly.
• Assists in obtaining wheelchairs or other services as needed and escorts patients within the department.
• Demonstrates working knowledge of medical terminology.
• Maintains organization and completes daily assignments on time.
• Stays calm and functions during stressful situations.
• Inputs patient demographics into the computer promptly.
• Ensures patient ID bands are applied.
• Keeps a clean and safe work environment.
• Provides shift handoff to the incoming greeter.
• Assists in orientation of new personnel on the unit.
