Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus, OH is seeking a Unit Coordinator (UC) to provide critical administrative support across patient care units. You will transcribe orders, assemble medical records, and coordinate with charge nurses to identify bed and unit needs, ensuring smooth daily operations so that caregivers can focus on patient care.

The role requires a high school diploma and familiarity with medical terminology; EMR experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Previous health care experience or knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Proficient in administrative technology (Microsoft-based PCs, phones, fax, printers) required; EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicate and transcribe orders for appropriate clinical colleagues in an accurate and timely manner.
• Assemble and maintain all medical records with current information.
• Collaborate with the unit charge nurse, manager, and/or patient placement to identify bed and unit needs.
• Promptly manage phones and patient call lights, relaying messages as appropriate.
• Keep patient accommodation updated as ordered; enter/manage patient charge information.
• All other duties as assigned.
