UNC Lenoir Health Care in Kinston, NC is seeking a Nursing Assistant II to provide ED patient care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. You will perform EKGs and phlebotomy as needed within the department’s scope.

This full-time night position offers 36 hours per week with a pay range of $16.41–$18.87 per hour, reflecting experience and internal equity in a fast-paced Emergency Department.

Qualifications

High school graduate; NC Board of Nursing NA II course; on‑the‑job EKG and phlebotomy training.
Two years of health care experience preferred.
Certified by the NC State Board of Nursing as NA II; BLS certification.
Good interpersonal, communication, and observation skills; understands patient care needs across age groups.

Responsibilities

Provides patient care in the ED as delegated by the Licensed Nursing Staff. Performs EKGs and phlebotomy as needed in the department within the scope of the NA II.

Responsibilities:

Patients and families are served in providing direct patient care services. Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner to project a positive image of the department and hospital. Insures that contacts with other health care members are friendly, helpful, and courteous.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

High school graduate or equivalent. Completion of North Carolina Board of Nursing approved Nursing Assistant II course. Completes the EKG and phlebotomy on the job training.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

Two years of health care experience preferred.

LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION

Certified by the State Board of Nursing as a NA II, and BLS certification.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

Good interpersonal, communication, and observation skills are essential. Understanding of patient care needs according to developmental stages for various age groups.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Exposure to bloodborne pathogens requiring the use of protective equipment; exposure to other infectious diseases. Exposure to chemicals utilized to clean and disinfect equipment.
