Job summary

UNC Health Care is seeking a Nursing Assistant II to provide patient care in the ED under licensed nursing staff. The role includes performing EKGs and phlebotomy as needed, within the NA II scope.

Candidates should have NC NA II certification, BLS, a high school diploma or equivalent, and good interpersonal skills to support rapid, compassionate care in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Summary

Provides patient care in the ED as delegated by the Licensed Nursing Staff. Performs EKGs and phlebotomy as needed in the department within the scope of the NA II.

Responsibilities

Patients and families are served in providing direct patient care services. Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner to project a positive image of the department and hospital. Insures that contacts with other health care members are friendly, helpful, and courteous.

Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent. Completion of North Carolina Board of Nursing approved Nursing Assistant II course. Completes the EKG and phlebotomy on the job training.
  • Two years of health care experience preferred.
  • Certified by the State Board of Nursing as a NA II, and BLS certification.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and observation skills are essential. Understanding of patient care needs according to developmental stages for various age groups.
Work Environment
  • Exposure to bloodborne pathogens requiring the use of protective equipment; exposure to other infectious diseases. Exposure to chemicals utilized to clean and disinfect equipment.
Physical Requirements
  • Working and standing throughout the shift. Lifting, pulling, turning, and pushing patients daily.
