UNC Lenoir Health Care in Kinston, NC is seeking a Nursing Assistant II to provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department under the supervision of Licensed Nursing Staff. The role includes performing EKGs and phlebotomy as needed within the NA II scope.

The candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent, NC NA II certification, and BLS. Two years of healthcare experience is preferred; on-the-job training will cover EKG and phlebotomy procedures.

Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

High school graduate or equivalent. Completion of North Carolina Board of Nursing approved Nursing Assistant II course. Completes the EKG and phlebotomy on the job training.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

Two years of health care experience preferred.

LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION

Certified by the State Board of Nursing as a NA II, and BLS certification.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

Good interpersonal, communication, and observation skills are essential. Understanding of patient care needs according to developmental stages for various age groups.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Exposure to bloodborne pathogens requiring the use of protective equipment; exposure to other infectious diseases. Exposure to chemicals utilized to clean and disinfect equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Working and standing throughout the shift. Lifting, pulling, turning, and pushing patients daily.
