Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to support the healthcare team in the Providence, RI area. Under the supervision of an RN/LPN or ordering providers, you will provide compassionate, personal care and assist with a range of ED tasks, including EKGs, vitals, phlebotomy, and monitoring equipment.

Qualifications include a RI Nursing Assistant license or MA program graduate, BLS, and EMT license, with at least one year of related experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalency preferred – able to read, write and speak English.
• American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Current Rhode Island license as a Nursing Assistant or graduate of a Medical Assistant Training Program (9 months or longer) required.
• Current EMT license.
• Exceptions to the Educational Requirements may be considered in certain circumstances.
• Demonstrated knowledge to provide care with aging processes and cultural patterns.

Responsibilities

• Shifts focus quickly to support patients and co-workers.
• Manages multiple tasks and changes rapidly from one task to another.
• Anticipates and acts on the needs of patients, families and co-workers.
• Modifies communication style to address feelings and concerns.
• Reports unsafe conditions to RN, manager, or supervisor; reports equipment for repair.
• Accurately documents data in the EHR and supports downtime procedures.
• Directs, escorts and transports patients within the facility.
• Assists with procedures under supervision and retrieves equipment as needed.
• Assists with patient care such as ambulating, positioning, personal care and toileting.
• Restocks inventory and ensures proper stock in treatment spaces.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Medical Assistant Training Program graduate
