Job summary

Brown University Health in Newport, Rhode Island seeks a Nursing Assistant to support Emergency Department care from arrival to discharge. You will collaborate with the RN, perform ADLs, monitor patients, and document care while maintaining confidentiality and patient advocacy.

This role requires strong communication, ability to multi-task, and adherence to hospital protocols. Evening shift (3p-3a) with 12-hour days, on-site work at Newport Hospital, with a focus on compassionate patient care

Qualifications

• High school graduate or its equivalent preferred.
• Entry level credentialing of secretarial and nursing assistant skills.
• Current Rhode Island registration as a Nursing Assistant.
• Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout Brown University Health, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with the Registered Nurse to set priorities and organize work.
• Communicates all pertinent observations to the responsible Registered Nurse.
• Administers direct physical care and assists with activities of daily living.
• Reports abnormal findings to the RN.
• Performs selected procedures and treatments according to standards and protocols.
• Assists with admissions, transfers, and discharges of patients.
• Collects tests, records, and reports of selected specimen data.
• Sets up cardiac monitoring devices and assists with cardiac monitoring.
