Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus, OH is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to provide patient care in a fast-paced ED. This role involves 12-hour evening shifts from 10:00 to 22:30, three shifts per week with rotating weekends and holidays, and collaboration with RNs and physicians to stabilize patients.

Responsibilities include phlebotomy, EKG, wound care, patient transport, data collection, and adherence to trauma, stroke, and resuscitation protocols.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification: BLS; completion of courses including basic patient care, EKG and phlebotomy.
• Experience: prior patient care experience or health-related training preferred.
• Effective communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Responds to patient needs promptly.
• Transportation and patient escort.
• Performs visual acuity, eye irrigations, equipment setups.
• Performs phlebotomy and labs as ordered.
• Participates in trauma, stroke, heart and sepsis alerts and resuscitation.
• Performs wound care and sterile technique when needed.
• Performs suture and staple removal (excluding facial region).
• Performs Foley care and collects specimens.
• Performs EKG and phlebotomy.
• Collects and documents vital signs, weight, procedures.
• Reports changes to RN/physician promptly.
