Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Escort and transport patients.
• Perform comfort and safety measures for patients.
• Assist with triage and obtain vital signs.
• Assist in blood collection for lab work.
• Perform simple treatments and procedures related to patient care: CPR in Code Blue.
• Cleanse and dress wounds.
• Assist physicians with suturing, splinting and traction.
• Perform ECGs.
• Answer all communications systems in ED.
• Transport supplies and equipment to and from central sterile.
• Clean and stock treatment rooms and nurse carts.
• Maintain supplies and linens; operate orthopedic equipment.
• Handle waste, linens; communicate with staff and patients.

Responsibilities

• Assist professional nursing staff in the ED with patient care tasks not requiring a license.
• Report significant changes in patient condition to RN or Physician.
• Assist with ICU-related duties as needed and train in additional skills.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment in ED and transport patients as required.
• Support performance improvement and effective communication among care teams.
