Job summary

Mercy Health in Urbana is seeking an ED Technician to deliver direct patient care under RN guidance, following all regulations and hospital policies. The role emphasizes compassionate communication, safety, and teamwork in a high-stress environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• BLS Basic Life Support preferred upon hire; obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care.
• Current certification in EMR, EMT, or Medical Assisting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care including comfort, hygiene, mobility, lab draws, ECGs, basic wound care under RN or designated healthcare professional.
• Complete patient rounding as assigned.
• Provide 1:1 patient safety companion service as needed.
• Act as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and concerns.
• Deliver high level customer service to patients, families, and staff.
• Document accurately and timely per patient care guidelines.
• Participate in handoff reports with pertinent information.
