Job summary

Southern Regional Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department to provide safe patient care, triage and manage patient needs through the nursing process in a fast-paced Telemetry environment.

Responsibilities include direct patient care, patient/family teaching, and collaboration with physicians. Requires valid RN license, BLS/ACLS/PALS/ENPC within specified timelines; ER experience preferred; BSN/CEN preferred.

Qualifications

• State RN License required.
• BLS certificate required on hire and current.
• ACLS certificate required on hire and current.
• PALS certificate and/or ENPC required within 30 days of hire and current.
• Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; ER setting preferred.
• Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Delivery of safe patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Provide direct patient care within the scope of practice.
• Direct and guide patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care in Telemetry.
• Directly responsible and accountable for the care given to patients in the Emergency Department.
• Communicate with the physician about changes in the patient's clinical condition and diagnostic results.
• Respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment.
• Maintain knowledge of EMTALA regulations and reporting of abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
