Job summary

UCI Health is seeking an ED Registration Representative to interview patients, collect accurate demographic data, and complete the registration process efficiently in a fast-paced emergency setting.

The role follows EMTALA regulations, deferring insurance actions until the medical screening exam is completed and ensuring proper collection of payments and authorizations for treatment or admission.

Qualifications

• One year hospital or related experience.
• AB508 Training within three (3) months.
• Preferred: High School diploma or equivalent; Medical terminology; Previous Emergency Registration experience; Basic EMTALA knowledge; Typing skills.

Responsibilities

• Interviewing and gathering complete and accurate demographic data to complete the registration process efficiently and expeditiously.
• Follows EMTALA regulations; does not act on insurance until the medical screening exam (MSE) is complete.
• Collects appropriate monies after the MSE and obtains authorization for treatment and/or admission.
• Obtains signatures on all registration forms and scans the forms.
• Completes insurance verification and breaks down charts for the appropriate departments.
