Job summary

TalentBurst is recruiting an Emergency Department Registered Nurse for Charlotte, NC. The role is an onsite 13-week contract with 12-hour night shifts, including 1900-0700 hours and EOW weekend rotation.

You’ll work with EPIC, Omnicell, and ED teams to manage a busy ED, serve pediatric to geriatric patients, and float regionally as needed. Required are RN licensure with BLS/ACLS/PALS/NIHSS/CPI; TNCC preferred.

Qualifications

• RN with ED experience and BLS/ACLS/PALS/NIHSS/CPI certified.
• Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and manage critical care drips.
• Experience with EPIC EMR and automated medication dispensing.

Responsibilities

• Provide ED nursing care for all ages with acuity-based assignments.
• Float regionally as needed, maintaining scope of practice.
• Collaborate with ED team to ensure patient safety and throughput.

Night Shift 12 hours/day 3 days/week

About Facility:

• 337 licensed beds
• No Trauma Designation
• Not a Teaching Hospital
• Chest Pain Center
• Stroke Center
• Radius rule: Traveler s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit

Unit Information:

• Beds: 43
• 8 Clinical Decision beds – Behavioral Health (not locked)
• 4 additional on opposite side used for admins from FSED or holding patients
• Average Census: 145 patients on average per day

Minimum Years of Experience required: 2 years of ED expWill you accept a first-time traveler: NoPatient Types/Common Diagnoses:

• General ED Population – Trauma stabilization to ship out, Respiratory illness, Stroke, Behavioral Health, Acute MI, Uncontrollable Diabetes, Minor trauma, etc.
• Ages served – Pediatric to Geriatric
• 25-30% Admission rate

Patient Ratios:

• RN: 1:3-4, based on acuity
• CNA: will serve as Unit Coordinator and assisting RN with patient cares, ratios varies

Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:

• RN:
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI (required)
• TNCC (preferred)

Skills required:

• RN: General ED Skillset to include but not limited to - Cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with critical care drips, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, conscious sedation

Support within the Department:

• HCT/Unit Sec – 1:8-10
• Paramedic
• Charge nurse – free floating
• Patient Safety Attendants
• Pharmacist dedicated to ED – 7a to 11p
• Social Worker
• Scheduler
• RT 24/7
• ED Physicians APP; Geriatric APP
• Hospitalist, 24/7
• Intensivist, 24/7

Technology/Equipment:

• EMR: EPIC
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Med dispensing: Omnicell
• Monitors: Phillips
• Rover Communication; Panda Infant Warmer, LUCAS

Floating:

• Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable
• Region 2 - Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, any Freestanding ED within Region, Central Division (CMC Main CMC Mercy Levine Children s Hospital)
• If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)
