Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina seeks a Peer Recovery Coach to support patients in recovery from substance use within the ED MOUD team. Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field preferred.
  • actively engaged in own recovery with minimum 3 years abstinence preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and screen ED patients for problematic substance use and conduct brief interventions.
  • Facilitate linkage to outpatient treatment and coordinate with ED team for referrals.
  • Provide post-discharge contact within 48 hours to address barriers to transitions of care.
  • Act as patient advocate to reduce stigma and support recovery resources.
  • Attend required meetings and complete documentation and reports.
