Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center in Baltimore, MD, is seeking a certified nursing assistant to join the emergency department care team. Under supervision of RNs and providers, you will assist with ADLs, specimen collection, IV access, EKGs, and documentation in the health record.

Requires completion of a CNA program, HS diploma or GED, and CPR. One to two years of direct patient care experience is preferred; CPR certification is required within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved CNA program and state certification.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 1–2 years of direct patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to department goals and adheres to policies, procedures, quality and safety standards, and SPIRIT Values.
• Provides direct patient care and assists with ADLs under supervision; supports nursing/medical staff.
• Collects specimens (blood, urine, sputum, stool); performs venipuncture; obtains EKGs; manages IVs and documentation.
• Assists in measuring and documenting vitals, height, weight, oxygen saturation, and point-of-care testing.
• Maintains patient comfort and safety; participates in rounds, handoffs, and patient/family teaching.
