Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System is seeking an Emergency Department Patient Care Technician to provide direct patient care under nursing supervision in the Chestertown area. Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Maryland CNA or GNA certification is required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • 1 year of ED Patient Care Technician experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs testing and manages the care of the patient based on results and clinical findings.
  • Records patient care including ADLs (feeding, bathing, dressing, toileting, transferring).
  • Documents vital signs and reported pain level.
  • Assists in admission, transfer and discharge of patients.
  • Participates in strategies to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Promotes patient safety and maintains a safe clinical environment.
  • Maintains order of patient rooms and supplies.
  • Provides post-mortem care when needed.
  • Collaborates with health care team to carry out the care plan.
