Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 1 year of registration, patient access, or healthcare clerical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Completes timely and accurate registration of ED patients including demographics and insurance information.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits at time of service.
• Obtains signatures for consent, HIPAA, and financial documents.
• Collects co-payments, deductibles, and outstanding balances as applicable.
• Greets patients, families, and visitors professionally and respectfully.
• Provides clear explanations regarding registration, financial responsibility, and hospital policies.
• Responds promptly to patient inquiries and escalates concerns when needed.
• Ensures EMTALA, HIPAA, and hospital policy compliance.
• Identifies and resolves registration errors to prevent delays in billing and care.
• Coordinates with clinical staff to ensure smooth ED patient flow.
