Job summary

Baystate Health in Springfield, MA seeks an Emergency Department Medic to provide direct patient care, monitor patients, assist with exams, and support throughput in a busy ED. You will perform point-of-care testing, IV access, EKG initiation, and coordinate with the care team to ensure rapid, safe treatment. ACLS/BLS certification and paramedic experience preferred.

Qualifications

• GED or HiSET required.
• 3 years paramedic experience preferred.
• ACLS/BLS certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record vital signs and document in EMR.
• Administer treatments and assist with exams and procedures.
• Assist with bed mobility, elimination, and specimen handling.
• Perform point-of-care testing (I-STAT, urinalysis, glucose, pregnancy, Covid).
• Initiate EKGs for cardiovascular presentations.
• Communicate effectively with care team and patients.
• Support throughput and patient flow in the ED.
• Assist with staff training and competency maintenance.
