Job summary

Three Crosses Regional Hospital in Las Cruces, NM is seeking an ED Patient Experience Specialist to enhance patient and family experiences in the Emergency Department. You will perform purposeful rounding, introduce yourself, assess comfort, answer questions, and coordinate with the nursing staff.

This role also supports ED operations by keeping patient-care areas clean, stocked, and welcoming while relaying non-clinical updates to patients and families and escalating concerns when needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Preferred: education in healthcare, hospitality, customer service, or related field.
• Preferred: Emergency Department or acute-care experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform purposeful rounding on ED patients at established intervals.
• Introduce self and explain the Patient Experience Specialist role.
• Assess patients’ comfort needs during rounds.
• Ask patients/families for questions, concerns, or needs.
• Provide comfort items (blankets, tissues, etc.).
• Assist with approved food/beverage requests after nursing confirmation of restrictions.
• Maintain a clean, welcoming patient environment.
• Provide extra attention during extended wait times.
• Communicate patient/family concerns to the care team.
• Serve as a communication resource between patients, families, and ED staff.
• Provide non-clinical updates and reinforce care plans.
