Brown University Health is seeking an Emergency Department patient care assistant who supports clinicians from arrival to departure, performing clerical tasks and direct patient care as part of the health care team.

Under supervision, the role includes assisting with admissions/discharges, taking vital signs, assisting with ADLs, setting up cardiac monitoring, performing EKGs, phlebotomy, and ensuring patient confidentiality while maintaining safety.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Entry level credentialing of secretarial and nursing assistant skills.
• Current Rhode Island registrations as a certified Nursing Assistant or Graduate of a Medical assistant training program (9 months or longer; curriculum most includes sterile conscience sepsis).
• Certified in basic cardiac life support (BLS).
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the Brown University Health, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.

Responsabilités

• Assists in providing care to Emergency Department patients from arrival to departure.
• Collaborates with the registered nurse to set priorities and organize work.
• Administers direct physical care and assists with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Performs selected procedures and treatments according to standards and protocols, including EKGs and vital signs.
• Assists with admissions, transfers, and discharge of patients, and maintains patient confidentiality.
