Baystate Health seeks an Emergency Department Assistant (EDA) to join our Emergency Department team at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. This role provides compassionate, age-appropriate care across emergency, trauma, pediatric, and behavioral health settings, partnering with physicians and nurses to support safe, high-quality patient care.

The position offers day shifts, with 12-hour schedules, 36 hours weekly, and weekends included.

Responsibilities

• Provides age-appropriate care in emergency, trauma, pediatric, and behavioral health settings.
• Observes patients and reports changes in physical or behavioral conditions.
• Assists with personal care, vital signs, mobility, transfers, positioning, and patient safety.
• Performs assigned procedures and safely operates patient care equipment.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and organized patient care environment.
• Uses appropriate de-escalation, restraint, and safety procedures.
• Completes behavioral health observation and safety duties as assigned.
• Maintains accurate and timely patient documentation.
• Completes required training and follows hospital policies and procedures.

Our Emergency Department team provides care to a diverse adult patient population, working closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, compassionate, high-quality care.

Emergency Department Assistant Responsibilities Include:

• Provides age-appropriate care in emergency, trauma, pediatric, and behavioral health settings.
• Observes patients and reports changes in physical or behavioral conditions.
