Baystate Health is hiring an Emergency Department Assistant for the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. The role supports an ED team delivering safe, compassionate care to a diverse adult patient population, working closely with physicians, nurses, and colleagues across disciplines.

The position features a full-time night schedule (12-hour shifts, 7pm–7:30am), 36 hours per week, with every-other Friday/Saturday weekends and alternating holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provides age-appropriate care in emergency, trauma, pediatric, and behavioral health settings.
• Observes patients and reports changes in physical or behavioral conditions.
• Assists with personal care, vital signs, mobility, transfers, positioning, and patient safety.
• Performs assigned procedures and safely operates patient care equipment.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and organized patient care environment.
• Uses appropriate de-escalation, restraint, and safety procedures.
• Completes behavioral health observation and safety duties as assigned.
• Maintains accurate and timely patient documentation.
• Completes required training and follows hospital policies and procedures.

Our Emergency Department team provides care to a diverse adult patient population, working closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, compassionate, high-quality care.

Emergency Department Assistant Responsibilities Include:
