Job summary

Fort Bend County is seeking a Communications Coordinator for the Emergency Communications Center. The role supervises 911 staff, enforces policies, and coordinates with public safety agencies to ensure rapid, compliant responses. The position requires at least five years of dispatch or related law enforcement experience and a TCOLE Advanced/Master certification.

Strong communication and confidentiality are essential. Salary is $42 per hour.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen.
• High School Diploma/GED.
• Five years dispatcher experience or five years of law enforcement-related experience with three years telecommunications experience.
• TCOLE Advanced or Master Telecommunications Operator Certification; knowledge of TLETS; 911 operations; DOS/Windows/PC hardware.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; required typing and speed tests.
• Management, organizational and supervisory skills; ability to work without direct supervision.

Responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate, and enforce operational policies for Emergency Communications Center.
• Serve as liaison with public, law enforcement, fire and EMS; build cooperative relationships.
• Supervise and evaluate 911 staff; provide feedback and ensure compliance with laws and guidelines.
• Schedule personnel; ensure shifts are adequately staffed.
• Identify and respond to emergencies; coordinate with agencies for assistance.
• Answer inquiries; document findings and resolve issues.
• Maintain confidentiality of dispatch information and operate CAD/TCIC/NCIC databases.
• Operate multiple computer systems including CAD and Fort Bend County databases.
• Be willing to work overtime and during emergencies.
