Job summary

Fort Bend County is seeking a Communications Coordinator to lead the Emergency Communications Center, enforce procedures, and liaison with police, fire and EMS. The role requires supervising 911 staff, evaluating performance, and ensuring compliance with TCIC/NCIC and related laws.

You will coordinate training, scheduling, and deployments, maintain equipment, and respond to public inquiries while upholding confidentiality and safety standards in a high‑stress environment.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen.
• High School Diploma or GED; must be 18+.
• 5+ years as an emergency dispatcher or 5 years law enforcement with 3 years telecoms experience.
• TCOLE Advanced or Master Telecommunications Operator Certification.
• Knowledge of TCIC/NCIC and emergency operations.
• Strong computer, data-entry, and typing skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate and enforce policies for the Emergency Communications Center.
• Supervise 911 staff and conduct annual evaluations.
• Coordinate with public safety agencies and officials.
• Manage scheduling, training and disciplinary processes.
• Oversee quality control and equipment maintenance.
• Respond to inquiries and ensure compliance with laws and guidelines.
