Job summary

The City of Katy Emergency Communications Center is seeking an Emergency Communications Specialist to handle 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls across Police, Fire, and Medical channels, dispatch personnel using computer-aided dispatch, maintain critical data records, and serve as the after-hours liaison for various city services.

You will coordinate multi-channel communications, verify and relay information with precision, and support field officers and responders from your station.

Qualifications

• High school diploma minimum; additional certifications after hire.
• Ability to handle high-pressure 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls.
• Strong written and verbal communication across multiple channels.

Responsibilities

• Handle 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls for Police, Fire, and Medical.
• Dispatch personnel via computer-aided dispatch systems.
• Maintain critical data records in local, state, and national systems.
• Coordinate after-hours dispatch with animal control, public works, and parks.
• Manage NCIC/TCIC entries and related system tasks.
• Accurately relay information under pressure for public safety.
