Job summary

Under general supervision, the Communications Technician performs dispatch and other communication support for police, fire, EMS, and city public safety responders. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with the ability to obtain EMS Dispatch, CPR, Telecommunicator I (APCO), LEADS Basic Operator (ODPS), and FEMA NIMS certifications as conditions of employment.

Candidates must have reliable transportation for off-site trainings and must reside within Knox County or adjacent counties as

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain Emergency Medical Dispatch certification.
• Ability to obtain CPR certification.
• Ability to obtain Telecommunicator I certification (APCO).
• Ability to obtain LEADS Basic Operator certification (ODPS).
• Ability to obtain NIMS 100, 200, 700 and 800 certifications (FEMA).
• Must have reliable transportation to work and trainings.

Responsibilities

• Provide dispatch and communication support for police, fire, EMS, and other public safety responders.
• Meet and maintain all required licenses and certifications as a condition of employment.
