Job summary

Wagoner County is seeking a Dispatcher to coordinate and manage the flow of information between departments and to receive emergency and non-emergency requests via radio, telephone and CAD systems, determining priorities and dispatching the appropriate units.

The successful candidate will monitor field units, transmit messages, maintain logs and records, use mapping tools, and ensure security and confidentiality. Training of new dispatchers and temporary supervisory duties may also be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of public service activities and county government policies.
  • FCC regulations for radio receivers and transmitters.
  • Effective verbal communication under stress.
  • Care and use of radio and telephone equipment.
  • Basic mathematics and English language skills.
  • Geography of Wagoner County.
  • Familiarity with law enforcement terminology.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor emergency and general support radio frequencies.
  • Receive emergency and non-emergency calls via 911, radio, CAD systems.
  • Determine priorities and dispatch units or agencies.
  • Maintain contact with field units and monitor progress.
  • Transmit messages via radio, telephone, CAD, or other equipment.
  • Maintain logs and records of public safety communications.
  • Use computer systems and mapping applications for data entry.
  • Maintain security and confidentiality of information.
  • Potentially train new dispatchers and submit progress reports.
  • May assume limited supervisory duties temporarily.
