Job summary

City of Nacogdoches Police Department is seeking a Communications Dispatcher to be the critical lifeline for our community and emergency responders. You will operate the communications center, handling routine and emergency calls and dispatching the appropriate personnel for assistance.

Requirements include a High School Diploma/GED, valid driver license, and the ability to obtain a Telecommunicator Operator License within one year. Texas licensing at higher levels adds pay.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or related experience and/or training.
• Valid driver license.
• Telecommunicator Operator License or the ability to obtain one within one year of employment. (Possession of Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Intermediate, Advanced or Master certificate adds an additional certificate pay up to $200.00 per month)

Responsibilities

• Operate the communications center by receiving routine and emergency calls (police, fire, utility) and dispatching the proper personnel for assistance.
• Maintain contact with police units during patrol, receive and transmit radio/telephone messages over several circuits and perform related recording tasks.
