Stafford County is seeking a Communications Officer to handle E911 and non-emergency calls, coordinating dispatch for law enforcement, fire, and rescue services. The role includes rotating 12-hour shifts and exposure to high-stress public safety environments.

Candidates must meet the education and typing requirements and be able to work weekends/holidays. Lateral candidates may receive credit for prior dispatch service and shift differentials apply.

Formación

• High School Diploma or equivalent, supplemented by computer keyboard training required.
• Must be able to type at a minimum speed of 35 wpm.
• Must be a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident of the U.S. and eligible for naturalization.

Responsabilidades

• Receive emergency and non-emergency calls from the public for law enforcement, fire, rescue, and other emergency services and dispatch personnel accordingly.
• Interpret and prioritize E911 calls; determine the nature of the call and route for expedient handling.
• Dispatch Sheriff’s department, fire and/or rescue units using E911 radio and telephone systems and provide location details.
• Operate a variety of emergency service communications systems and document malfunctions and data.
