Job summary

Macon-Bibb County is seeking an E-911 Communication Officer to receive, process, dispatch, and disburse emergency and non-emergency information for the E-911 Communications Center.

Responsibilities include operating emergency telecommunications and radio equipment, coordinating field units, and maintaining weather and alert communications; GCIC/NCIC terminals are used to support field operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; POST certification exam pass required.
• Must be able to type 30 wpm.
• Experience in public safety communications preferred.
• Ability to operate radio and telecommunications equipment.

Responsibilities

• Receives requests for emergency and non-emergency information and records/transfers to the appropriate department or dispatch position.
• Operates radio equipment to dispatch law enforcement, fire, or other personnel and equipment.
• Maintains contact with field emergency response units and tracks status.
• Coordinates with police officers in the field to verify location and ensure backup.
• Transfers medical calls to ambulance service and assesses life-threatening situations.
