The City of Montgomery seeks an experienced Emergency Communications Center (ECC) Manager to oversee ECC division operations and lead the communications staff. The role includes budgeting support, planning shifts, and directing daily activities while upholding the center’s mission.
The position requires strong leadership, a commitment to staff development, and coordination with the Assistant Director of Emergency Communications, with on-call responsibilities and shift work as needed.
The fundamental reason this position exists is to oversee the Emergency Communications Center (ECC) division operations and to provide management support and direction to communications center personnel.
The work responsibilities include supporting communications center management with Division operations, assisting in developing and managing the communications center budget, supervising and directing communications center staff, planning and scheduling work, and performing administrative duties. This position must demonstrate a strong leadership presence that promotes the mission and vision of the Center. This position must promote positive relations between employees and management and work with considerable independence under the direction of the Assistant Director of Emergency Communications.
Must have a high school diploma and four (4) years of experience in emergency communications. Experience must demonstrate increasing levels of authority, responsibility, and leadership within a 9-1-1 communications center or similar environment.
NOTE: Qualifying education, training, and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays, and be willing to be on call to respond to emergency incidents as needed. Must possess or be able to attain a valid Alabama Driver’s License within 60 days and have an acceptable driving record. Must be able to obtain and maintain all required instructor certifications.
The City of Montgomery’s Emergency Communications Center operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and 365 days per year. You may be required to work non-business hours, weekends, and some holidays.
