Job summary

Canyon Vista Medical Center in Sierra Vista, AZ is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to serve as Emergency Charge Nurse on the night shift. In a Level III Trauma Center, you’ll supervise the ED team, manage patient flow, and uphold high standards of care.

The role requires AZ RN license, ADN or higher, and certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC). You’ll lead evidence-based practice, coordinate admissions and transfers, and mentor staff while maintaining flexible coverage and a strong

Qualifications

• Applicants should have a current Arizona or compact state RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school.
• Associate's Degree in Nursing required, Bachelor's or Master's Degree preferred.
• Must have an active Arizona or Compact RN License.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, HAZMAT and Handle with Care certifications required within 90 days of hire.
• TNCC required within one year of hire.
• One year of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and mentors nursing and support staff during assigned shift.
• Determines staffing levels and assignments based on availability, census, acuity, and workflow.
• Provides direct patient care as needed and may take patient assignments to meet staffing needs.
• Floats between staff to assist with problem-solving.
• Evaluates effectiveness of patient care and identifies issues affecting outcomes.
• Responds to patient care complaints and manages them through established channels.
• Performs role-specific duties including entering orders, admissions/discharges, and coordinating transfers.
• Ensures staff have necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe, quality care.
• Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and protocols.
• Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
• Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
• Provides quality patient care; works flexible shifts/units as needed.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Patient Populations Served: Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult.
