Job summary

ChristianaCare’s Middletown Emergency Department is seeking an Emergency Care Technician to support our free-standing ED serving the Middletown‑Odessa‑Townsend area. The ED features 18 treatment rooms and 24/7 coverage by board‑certified physicians and emergency nurses, with on‑site lab and imaging and a helipad for aero‑medical transport.

You will perform hygiene and comfort care, vital signs, phlebotomy and EKGs under RN supervision, for neonatal to geriatric patients.

Qualifications

• BLS certification is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of Patient Care Technician and/or Phlebotomist programs required.

Responsibilities

• Performs hygiene and comfort measures for patients.
• Obtains vital signs and performs EKGs.
• Performs venipuncture and finger sticks following safety policies.
• Performs unit-specific tasks under RN supervision (e.g., EKGs, measurements).
• Reviews orders and processes lab specimens as needed.
