Job summary

New Hanover County 911 Center is seeking a Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) Coordinator to provide technical and operational support for the CAD system used to support emergency response operations. The CAD Coordinator will perform system maintenance, configuration, and data management activities to ensure accurate call handling, effective dispatch operations and reliable system performance.

The role includes administration of CAD data and user access, configuring resources, and developing dispatch

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Information Systems, or related field and three years of experience installing and troubleshooting computer problems or equivalent
• Experience configuring, maintaining, and supporting CAD components and related software such as PURVIS Automated Dispatch, ProQA and AQUA
• Ability to manage CAD system data, user accounts, roles and access rights in alignment with security and policy requirements
• Strong collaboration with public safety agencies and IT staff to implement system updates and operational changes

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day administration and maintenance of the CAD system across multiple agencies
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of CAD data to support call handling, resource deployment and responder safety
• Create and manage CAD user accounts, records, roles, and permissions
• Configure and maintain agency resources, including personnel, units and apparatus within the CAD system
• Develop and optimize response plans, run cards, and dispatch logic
• Manage nature codes, call types and incident classification structures
• Maintain CAD mapping layers and geographic data for dispatching and situational awareness
• Configure automatic notifications, alerts and workflows to support coordination
• Support PURVIS, ProQA and AQUA software integration with CAD protocols
• Collaborate with stakeholders to implement system updates and operational changes
• Support data tracking, reporting and quality assurance initiatives
• Maintain regular attendance and be available during emergencies
• Perform other duties as needed
