Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Engineer to support a leading hardware engineering team in North San Jose, CA. This 12-month contract offers 100% onsite work, regular business hours, and hands-on EMC testing across diverse networking equipment.

Ideal candidates will have an Electrical Engineering degree and EMC/radio testing experience, with strong analytical, writing, and collaboration skills to ensure compliance with global standards.

Qualifications

• Electrical Engineering degree required.
• EMC and/or Radio Testing experience.
• Experience using EMI receivers or spectrum analyzers.
• Experience with oscilloscopes, signal generators, power meters.
• Familiar with IXIA traffic generators and wideband testers.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent technical writing and documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform EMC compliance tests including radiated/conducted emissions and immunity, ESD, EFT, surge, voltage dips and interruptions, and related tests.
• Configure hardware and software to exercise EUT for EMC testing.
• Test networking equipment such as switches, routers, servers, access points, video equipment, IP phones, and security devices.
• Write Test Assessment Plan and EMC test reports using in-house tool.
• Follow EMC test procedures per EN/IEC 61000-4-x, 47 CFR Part 15, CISPR standards, and related regulations.
• Desirable knowledge of EN 301-489, IEC 60601-1-2, EN 50155/ EN 50121 series, NEBS GR-1089.
