Job summary

Google's EMC Test Engineer role in Sunnyvale, CA focuses on ensuring hardware compliance with global EMC/RF standards. You will own the hardware development life-cycle from verification to certification and sustaining, acting as a gatekeeper for releases.

You will drive test plans, perform root-cause analysis, and recommend design mitigations such as shielding or grounding; you will collaborate with hardware design, firmware, and lab teams to meet internal specs and worldwide regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of hardware testing experience.
  • 2 years in hardware compliance, EMC/EMI testing, or hardware validation.
  • Experience developing and executing EMC/EMI test plans.
  • Experience with hardware bring-up and root-cause analysis of compliance failures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute full test plans (radiated/conducted emissions, immunity, ESD) for NP I hardware in internal and external labs.
  • Lead offline bring-up for EUTs with firmware and lab teams to deploy custom workloads for validation.
  • Perform root-cause analysis on compliance failures and provide design recommendations (shielding, layout, grounding).
  • Drive EMC/ESD qualification for high-speed components to act as a release gate.
  • Serve as SME to ensure compliance-by-design and expand lab capabilities with SOPs.
