Job summary

Tractable in Salt Lake City is seeking an Embedded Systems Engineer to advance the LUMA drive-through vehicle inspection scanner. You’ll own the device-side software and firmware, control cameras and sensors, and push features from prototype to production in a fast-paced hardware-software environment.

You’ll work across embedded Linux, C/C++, Python, and sensor interfaces, bring-up hardware, and ship reliable edge solutions that run in real vehicles while collaborating with a small, hands-on

Qualifications

• 3+ years of embedded engineering experience.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and/or Python with solid software fundamentals.
• Experience with Embedded Linux, system services, logging and performance profiling.
• Hands-on hardware & sensor integration using UART/I2C/SPI/GPIO and interfaces like CAN/Modbus.
• Lab bring-up skills: oscilloscopes, analyzers, basic soldering and wiring.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain embedded Linux software and firmware for camera/sensor stack.
• Improve camera and sensor control software: triggering, timing, health monitoring, error handling.
• Develop signal processing pipelines and data transforms for measurements.
• Prototype fast and harden code for production-grade reliability.
• Support integration and deployments: lab validation, on-vehicle testing, issue debugging and fixes.
