Job summary

Spang Power Electronics, a division of Spang & Company, seeks a Software Engineering Manager to lead embedded software development in Mentor, OH. You will oversee the full lifecycle from concept to production, guiding real-time control software and interfacing with hardware teams.

The role requires 7+ years in embedded software and 2+ years in management, with strong C/C++ expertise and RTOS experience. On-site work with up to 10% travel and a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Master's degree is preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in embedded software development.
• At least 2 years in managing or leading engineering teams.
• Proficiency in C/C++ for real-time embedded systems.
• Experience with RTOS environments and digital control of power systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of embedded software for digital power control systems.
• Architect and implement firmware for real-time control on MCUs, DSPs, or FPGAs using C/C++ or similar low-level languages.
• Manage and mentor a team of 2–5 engineers; conduct code reviews and evaluations.
• Collaborate with hardware, systems, and product teams to define software requirements and interfaces.
• Drive adoption of best practices in embedded development, version control, unit testing, and documentation.
• Own the full software development lifecycle from concept to production and support.
• Perform debugging of complex embedded systems in lab environments.
• Occasional travel, up to 10%.
