Job summary

Spang Power Electronics in Mentor, Ohio, seeks a Software Engineering Manager to lead the embedded software team responsible for digital power control systems. This on-site role requires strong technical leadership and hands-on coding.

You will mentor 2–5 engineers, define software requirements with hardware and product teams, and drive best practices, including unit testing and documentation, across the full software lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering; Master’s preferred.
• 7+ years of embedded software development; 2+ years leading engineering teams.
• Experience in digital control of power systems with PID, loop stability, and voltage/current regulation.
• Proficiency in C/C++ for real-time embedded systems and RTOS.
• Experience with TI C2000 and ARM Cortex-M; familiarity with embedded web servers (HTML5/JS/CSS).

Responsibilities

• Lead development of embedded software for digital power control systems.
• Architect and implement firmware for MCUs, DSPs, or FPGAs using C/C++ or similar.
• Manage and mentor a 2–5 engineer team; conduct code reviews and performance evaluations.
• Collaborate with hardware, systems, and product teams to define software requirements.
• Drive best practices in embedded development, including version control, testing, and documentation.
• Own full software lifecycle from concept to production and support.
• Debug complex embedded systems in lab environments.
• Occasional travel up to 10%.
